Application For Grass Cutting

Grass clippings release nitrogen into the grass which is one of the three main components of commercial fertilizers.
Application for grass cutting. Mow moving forward whether you re pushing a walk behind mower or sitting behind the wheel of a lawn tractor. Apply grass fertilizer correctly. Apply the fertilizer beginning with the perimeter of your lawn then move inward toward the center walking in your typical mowing pattern. Sprinkle the grass lightly to dampen it then use a spreader to apply the weed and feed evenly over the lawn.
Grass develops a grain based on your cutting direction tending to lean towards the direction you mow. You can use a hand held spreader like the scotts whirl hand powered spreader for a small lawn or a broadcast spreader for a larger lawn. Use straight slightly overlapping lines to ensure good coverage. Select a fertilizer that is appropriate for the time you are fertilizing.
If the product package does not provide a spreader setting it is not intended for lawn use. Alternating the pattern causes more upright growth and helps avoid producing ruts in the lawn. Just follow these guidelines for easy application and even coverage. Some products may also be used on warm season grasses.
